2nd Story Deck Demo
New to the site, but have been a fan for some time. I've got to try and save some money and have decided to demo a 2nd story deck (roughly 12' x 5') before professionals come in and repair the roof underneath and rebuild the deck. Wasn't properly built in the first place and thus we've had water damage underneath.
Anyway, I'm really motivated to do this but the reality is that I have little experience doing anything like it. I went out there last night to take a look and it looks like it will be tougher than I thought.
What's the best approach to start this? I have a sawzall, a sledghammer and a crow bar. Plus, my father-in-law. I'd say we have about 40 2" x 4" and a L-shaped railing to remove. I'd like to try and salvage the railing if possible.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
PS - There's a lot about deck demoing online but I couldn't find anything about demoing a deck with a roof underneath it.
you've got all the tools you need  just refrain from dropping **** on the roof & damaging the shingles,,, safety line & falls would be a good idea so you do NOT follow the debris over the edge
glad to hear its really wasn't a 2 story desk
Thanks for the quick response! Man, how did I write 2nd Story DESK!?! Yeah, it's a DECK, not a DESK.
