2nd floor addition

I have a 4 room cape with stairs leading to an unfinished attic on the 2nd floor. The building is 31 long x 24wide . I had plans drawn up for a full dormer on the back of the house that would run from the ridge to the back of the house 12' x 31 feet. The dormer would be weather tight and unfinished on the inside. I was quoted $14,000. which breaks down to $37.63 fer sq foot labor and materials. does this price seem ok? I dont want to get the thing opened up then find out its going to cost more. Can you give me a ball park figure of what a per sq foot price should be for something like this?

This site is geared towards DIY, not cost estimates
Prices vary widely by area & the specific job
Get several local estimates & check references
Thank you
