Wall timer wiring

Does it matter which switch is used for the timer installation? I believe we have a 3 way circuit. There are two switches that control 4 outside garage light fixtures. We tried a 3 way Intermatic Timer last year but it did not work. Would still like to figure this out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do all four lights go on and off together?

Post a link to the general- and install- instructions on this timer.

Wall timer wiring

Hi, I too am wiring a in-wall timer to control my outside garage lights. I have read previous posts, but no luck. I believe I have a 3 way set up. There are two switches that control the outside garage lights. The switches each have 4 wires, red, black, white and copper. The timer is a Woods and the instructions are not clear. The timer has 4 wires, red, black, white, green. It does not indicate whether it is single pole or 3 way. I have tried the obvious, red to red, black to black, white to white and green to copper. No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have a single pole timer you need a 3 way timer
