Traveling with a 110v oxygen unit for a lung patient. (inverter problem)

Run a pair#8 stranded copper 10 feet to a second battery, then a pair of #2/0 copper to a 1500 hundred watt inverter (3000 on the peak) . The name plate on the oxygen machine draws 3 amps ,and the inverter draw is unknown. The ox machine seems to jump a little at first ,but then seems to work just fine, but shortly thereafter, the breaker kicks out and is hot, inverter seems cool. Ox machine works fine on 120v ac...........what gives? Big battery in SUV,mid size battery, next to inverter.

inverter cannot runs all type of appliance (cheap inveter have square wave output and may destroy some appliance), im pretty sure the oxygen unit have an option for battery power and could run with a very small battery
