They inspected and I passed everything. Just need a fire detector added near the kitchen. They were looking more or less at fire detector locations, and just quickly electrical, flammable materials and so on. Nothing out of the ordinary so they glanced pretty quick at everything. They were in and out in probably like 10 minutes.

I totally overlooked the kitchen detector actually, I should have known to have one there.

Exactly! It has primarily to do with in-rush current. As a motor ages, the inrush can get higher and higher, and if the h/o has used an el cheapo lampcord extension, it could be overloaded.

Still not that likely-- but lawyers are hired not for the likely, but for the possible.
