T12 to t8

i want to replace my t12 with t8 balast and replace my bulbs (4 - 4 Foot). instead of 2 balast go to one can some one instruct me how to wire this since i have 4 yellow, 4 pink and 4 blue on my old system. i know the white and black. the new balast has the same color wires but not enough. on the balast it shows putting the yellow wires together. but only shows one blue and pink. do i need to change the bulb holders? need wiring diagrham. THANKS

ok, things sound a bit confusing.

first, make sure the new ballast is designed to run the 4 lamps. If so, does it say:

instant start

or

rapid start

can you post the model number of the new ballast?

the lampholders needing change; if they are not broken, most likely not but we'll get to that in a minute.

that is the right one but see where it shows to tie the yellows together but it does not show what to do with extra blues and reds

it shows what to do with 2 blue wires, 2 red wires, and 2 yellow wires and the black and white wires (incoming power)

do you have more wires than that?

I think I know what you are talking about. You have two wires coming from each lamp holder.

se how it shows a red going to one end of the lamp? If you have two wires to that one lamp holder, simply connect both of them to the one red wire. Do that for the other 3 lamps tying the other red to another lamp and each of the blues to one lamp.

Thats what i did. Works fine thanks for the info the wiring diagram was confusing since it said you had to connect the yellows together but nothing about the red and blues conecting together.
