T12 - Magnetic to Electronic Ballast

We have two T12 fixtures that utilize F60T12-CW bulbs and have a R-2E75-S-3-TP magnetic ballast. The magnetic ballast has gone bad and we bought a GE260ISMV-N-DIYB electronic ballast as a replacement.

The 2 fixtures have wires that are run through a conduit. Coming out of the conduit are 1 Black, 1 White, 1 Red and 1 Blue wire. Each color wire was connected to the same color wire on the old magnetic R-2E75 ballast. In addition, incoming power - Hot (Black) and Neutral (white) - were connected to the Black and White wires going to the fixtures and the old ballast.

We removed the old ballast and installed the new ballast as follows.

1. Red Wire from the new ballast was connected to both Red and Blue wires going to fixtures. I used a voltmeter to check continuity and found that the Red and Blue were going to plungers on the fixtures - Red to the plunger of one fixture and Blue to the plunger of the other fixture.

2. One blue wire from the new ballast was connected to the white wire going to the fixture and the other blue wire was connected to the black wire going to the fixture. It would take hours of work to get to the fixtures to open them up, so I assumed that the white wire goes to the fixed lampholder for one fixture and the black wire goes to the other fixed lampholder for the other fixture.

3. Connected incoming Line Hot (black) and neutral (white) to the corresponding black and white wires on the new ballast.

When we turn power on, 1 lamp lights up and the other one doesn't. When we remove the lamp that lights up, the other lamp lights.

Any thoughts as to what is going on here?

Thanks!

You need to make the splices as shown on the ballast diagram.

We made the splices as per the new ballast's diagram. Followed the diagram exactly. In fact, prior to checking, used a voltmeter to check which color wires were going where.

Recheck your connections. If you had it connected properly both lamps would come on.
You need to verify the black and white connections at the fixtures. The diagram for you old ballast show the power passing through the lamp holders of the fixtures.

Maybe you can use the black and white as the common connection and the red and blue as the connections to the blue wires?
