Running Cat6 cable in steel stud house

I am starting a new project of running Cat6 cable from my upstairs closet to the downstairs living room. My starting point is the closet because the house came pre-wired with Cat5 cable that went from the closet to a few rooms already.

My house is built with steel studs and has fire blocks. My questions is: are the fire blocks also steel or would they be wood? If they are steel, would I need a different drill bit?

I'm planning on running the cable the way it is shown in this video:

I'm trying to get all my planning down before I start working because I don't want to have to patch up a lot of holes with my usual trial and error method.

I already have a spool of 1,000ft Cat 6 cable

thanks.
