Run wire into a chain link fence post ?

Hello all
i'd like to put a driveway light ontop of a 6' chain link gate post
can i come up from under ground next to it and drill into the botoom of the post then run cable to the top ?
If not then what do i need to run cable up along side of the post or even along side the top or bottom rail
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Personally I wouldn't be against running a GFCI protected circuit in UF cable inside of a fence rail. Maybe sleeve some Seal Tite over it as well.

I would use low voltage lighting in a metal fence. No one dies if you do it incorrectly.

uf cable must be protected when exposed, you could sleeve it into some pvc tubing or metallic seal tite for the lenght that is exposed before going into the post
