Breakingcustom - you could not be more wrong. I know you feel trapped by your other work but there is HOPE.

Suck up your pride. Call the relevant permit offices confess your wrongdoing. Combine this with sincere apologies and promises to fix it all.

Many people have been down the same road as you and can tell you that it isn't the end of the world.

Yes, this will cause you some additional expense and headache. But, forfend, what happens if you have a house fire and your insurance company decides to drop your policy because of your unpermitted work? You are gambling some nominal expense and inconvenience against the biggest investment of your life.
