Recessed Lighting help/questions

We have a Colonial style home that was built in 1965. I would love to put recessed lighting in the kitchen as we are getting new cabinets and counters. Right now we have a semi-flush mount pendent light over the kitchen table and a smaller 3 light track on the other side near the sink.

What is the deal with us having a 2nd floor on top. Is recessed lighting out of the question since I canít access the floor above? There has got to be a way to do this right?

I thought they have smaller canisters these days?

I would like a few of these.

Remodel/Old work cans should work, they install through the hole cut in the ceiling. You'll still have to fish wire through the ceiling, but it's doable.
