old hunter ceiling / light fan

I hooked the old fan/light up to an existing light only fixture , but the wall switch controls only the fan not the light. How do I get the wall switch to turn the fan and the light off together. I have white to white, black to black and black/white to red. green obviously to the bare ground.

Tie the black and black/white from the fan to the same wire. Either the black or the red, whichever one comes from the switch. Cap off the unused wire.
