New Ceiling Fan Won't Power On

Hi All,

Recently purchased a Harbor Breeze Pawtucket ceiling fan. I followed the directions exactly and maybe i'm missing something but I cant get it to turn on. White neutral to white neutral and the power to red, as it states in the manual. I do have two hot's coming out of my ceiling. Two lights switch, one for lights, one for fan control. This fan does have a light kit which you can see in the pictures. Few wires with a clip on the end, and then a red and white coming out of it.
Can someone assist and let me know any thoughts of maybe what i'm doing wrong? I connected one power and just capped the other power. Am I suppose to hook up something else or run a line from something else

I'm in no way shape or form an electrical expert but trying to just get this done without having someone come to my house. All help is appreciated!

That white connector with the 3 wires needs to plug in somewhere. Have you made that connection?

Where is the unconnected white wire coming from? Did you connect it to anything?

Yes the white conductor with the 3 wires get's plugged into the fan motor when I put it up. I plug everything in though and nothing powers on. Seems like I have something setup wrong?

The unconnected white wire that you're referring to is actually a ground wire if you look closely. Seems to have some paint on it.

How did you determine the unconnected white wire is a ground wire? Generally speaking white = neutral.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but if you zoom in enough, it appears to be a bare copper wire with white paint on it. You can see some of the copper showing through up near where it crosses over the red wire.

It is definitely the ground wire.

Does this seem hooked up the correct way? Any comments or any changes that should be done?

Just because its a remote control fan, does that mean It can't be controlled by the actual light switch and switch I have on the wall for the fan control?

Because it's a remote control fan, does that mean I cannot use the light switches on the wall? Light switch along with fan control switch?

They were both on and I tested and still didn't work.

Re: New Ceiling Fan Won't Power On

Most likely that is exactly what it means.... that's the only way that I have seen them work.

The power has to be on to the remote control unit at the light.... that means that the switch(s) need to be on.... and then you have to use the remote control... with batteries in it.

Do you have a remote control unit....

Re: New Ceiling Fan Won't Power On

I have everything hooked up. Both light switches on. The remote is still not allowing me to turn the fan on or light on. Nothing happens.
The light on the remote shows the buttons are working properly.
