You need to perform a load calculation on those circuits.

What will be used on them(wattage rating?), how often, how long(continuous load?), how many at the same time, etc?

From there, the feeder size can be determined, as well as the adequacy of your service equipment, etc.

Good question (and one I have no idea of how to answer)...

The 6 circuits are for all of the runs to all of the outlets in the house (they weren't configured to tie in with the lighting and also they exclude the bedrooms -- which had to be on arc breakers)... So you'll probably find it'll just be a low intensity load (I guess). When the house was built I asked for 14/3 wire to be installed just so I could have the ability to expand to 120/240v (dual) outlets if needed. I don't really have too many appliances that run on 240 -- When you break it all down I just a few little domestic items -- a high-wattage kettle (2Kw), a toaster -- a steam iron -- very little stuff really... So, I guess it would be "all outlets in house, so whatever 'normal consumption' would be for that, plus these specialty domestic items...

UPDATE:

Sorry, all of the outlets except for: bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen --

(So basically the living/dining areas and hallways etc...)

I'd install a 20 space 100a panel & feed it with a 60a/70a breaker & #6 THWN
I put a 100a sub next to my 200a Main panel

Well first, although not a requirement, I would stick with the same brand of gear you have! Square D's QO line is good stuff! However if your budget doesn't allow for that, the Homeline series is not bad either.

Here's a link to a QO panel you could use:

Now, whether you are planning to install the sub panel next to the existing panel or elsewhere, you need to have the space available in front, side to side and above. Picture a box 30" wide X 36" deep X 7' tall, you must have that amount of space clear in front of the panel/s (both panels can be encompassed in this space). That means no cabinetry, washing machine, dryer, pump motor etc. can be in this space! There should also not be any water lines in the space directly above the panel.

Now you're ready to install your new panel. If you have decided you have the space next to the existing panel I recommend you connect the 2-panels with a minimum 2" nipple. If you use the factory concentric knock-outs the panels will probably line up at either the top or the bottom making for a nice clean looking installation. I recommend you use a bonding bushing on one end of the nipple if you use the factory concentric knock-outs unless you use a 2" nipple and the 2" is the largest knock-out and there are no more left after that.

Feed you new panel with #6 black, red and white and #10 green ground* with a 60-amp circuit breaker in the main panel.

*Connect the green ground to a ground bar or a lug attached to the panel box, not to the neutral bar and DO NOT install the bonding screw that comes in the panel.

You now have a new panel, fill it up wisely!

Thanks guys -- I'm thinking that sparks1up's suggestion is probably the direction I'm going end up heading... The proposed subpanel can hold 12 spaces (or, in my case, 6 X 2-pole breakers) which then does free-up some room in the original panel...

So, as for a shopping list, I'd need to be thinking a 60A breaker for original panel, 6 X 2-pole 15A breakers (for my circuits in the new panel), the new panel itself and 3 bits of #6 wire and some #10 green...

Anything else do you think???

OR...

Are there any opinions on if I used a sub-panel with 24 spaces (room for expansion)? Would I still be able to run something like this with a 60 Amp breaker on my main panel?
