Lighting

I changed the chandelier and also the switch. The old switch only has two wires..ground and another black. Now the new switch plate has three wires, ground and two blacks. Now that I put in the new switch the bathroom light only turns on when I have the chandelier light on. What could I have done wrong. Please help!

Grounds do not get switched. You might be dealing with a switch loop. Do you know what these look like?

Can you describe the number and colors of the terminals on the new switch?

How many and what color wires in the switch box?

For the sake of clarity, don't include ground wires (green or bare)

If there are only 2 wires in your switch box (black and white), you miswired in the chandelier jbox.

Report back with the number/color of wires in both the sw box and the light box.
