Light won't work after splice

Can anyone explain why after a section of wire was cut and re-spliced
, the light to which it was connected won't work. Thanks!

The splice was not done properly.

You should start a new thread and explain you situation better.

Maybe when the wire was cut, it blew the breaker and it must be reset!

Problem resolved. I re-checked the wires inside the junction box and although they seemed fine with a pull on the wire nut, a closer examination found the black wire was cut close to where the sheathing was removed. A few twists and the wire broke off. A new length of wire was exposed, re-connected and all is well!! Just goes to show how important a closer examination of a problem really is. Thanks to all who responded.
