Light Fixture Install Question

Got a quick install question. Although I have installed a bunch of fixtures in amy house in the past I had a question about this one (id like to make sure I do it the best way). The pictures show what I would assume is a 12-3 configuration. The old fixture was connected to the red/hot which I thought was for 3 way operation (this is not a 3 way fixture). Obviously my white/neutrals go together. Does it matter which hot (red or black) I use? Also should I connect the ground to the green mount screw or bundle it with the other bare wires? I assume the green screw is best because the fixture wire is stranded and the rest obviously isn't.

You may have a constant hot and a switched hot or two switched hot on the red and black.

All the ground should be spliced together and to the bracket.

Connect the new fixture to the same wires the old one was connected to.

If the old fixture was connected to the red and white and you want you new fixture to work the same, then connect it to the red and white as well.

The box could have been set up for a fan which requires two hot, one for fan and one for light.
