jacuzzi switch

The switch on my tub will only work when it is pushed in. If let off the switch it turns off. Is this a switch problem or is the pump wired in wrong? Shouldn't the pump turn on when the switch is pushed down and turn off when pushed back down?

Is this the air actuated switch on top of the tub deck?

it sounds like the switch is bad. Does it "click" when you push it in? Did it used to?

edit: good point by jerry. I forgot about the air operated switches

The switch is a vacuum switch I think. It has a clear tube running from the switch to the pump. When you push the switch in, and yes it is on top the tub. The motor clicks on. As soon as you let off the switch it turns of. I did replace the switch on the tub but not the switch in the pump.

the switch at the pump is most likely the problem. There is a mechanical detent in the switch that apparently is not working. The air activator simply works as an extension of your finger.

The air switch is probably bad.

Possibly the tubing is loose or has a small leak which doesn't allow enough pressure to fully activate the switch.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I have a similar issue. I spent an hour or so today getting the control panel to work, which it ended up doing. Then my wife came home and it looks like she jammed the button too hard/deep (this is an air actuated power button) and now the tub is stuck on and can't be switched off.

I took the panel apart again and after unplugging the tub, I can clearly hear the switch clicking on and off, but no matter what the tub remains on. Is it possible that the switch is clicking, but not hard enough? Or could the switch have blown at the pump? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the switch may have been damaged so the contacts are jambed together somehow or were welded together somehow. If it is clicking, I would think that would be the most likely problem
