installing remote controlled fan

I am installing an outdoor Savoy House ceiling fan equiped with remote control. I do not want to use the remote. May I install the fan without the reciever and use a fan control switch? The installation manual states that this fan may not be installed with a fan control switch or a solid-state fan switch. Is this due to the type of fan motor or because they do not want it installed at the same time the receiver is installed.

First, I always try to follow the manufacturers instructions. Try the fan rated speed control and see. You may have to go with a simple snap switch if that will not work. Whats the model number?

I'm just curious. Why buy a fan with remote and not use it?

If your fan has a black, white, blue and green wires, you can use whatever switch you want.

If it only has black, white and green, you are stuck with the remote.

You can eliminate the remote on most fans but not all of them.

The model number is 52-525-50-40 monticello edition. The fan does have blue for lights, black for fan, white neutral and ground.
