Ikea light fitting help - green/yellow wire

I recently just bought i new light from Ikea. The wires coming out of the ceiling are blu, brown and green/yellow (see attached JPG) and the new light has just brown and blue (See other attached JPG). I'm guessing the blue and brown both get connected to each other but no clue what to do with the green yellow coming out of the ceiling. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like Euro colors. Not that familiar with brown, blue, they are hot/ neutral(I think), green/yel is definitely ground.

See that embossed circle on the fixture in the first photo? That's the symbol for a ground connection.

I am from the UK. What would you suggest I do with the green/yellow wire then?

The blu, brown, and green/yellow wires appear to me to be part of the fixture. How many and what color are the wires coming out of the ceiling or wall of the premises?

The blue conductor is neutral, the brown or red conductors are "hot"

The green/yellow is your ground (earth) conductor. If your new fixture does not have the green in it, then just ignore the one in your ceiling box.

The ceiling wires are a per photo 1, so blue, brown and green/yellow. I guess I'll just cap off the green/yellow then.
