Help...electrical not my thing.

I have a lead wire that is four wire coming from a seperate braker off of the main box......it has a Red wire, black wire, white wire and a green wire.

My new tidal wave pump has a rear plate that comes off and only needs three wires (white, black and yellow to make a switch on the back panel run the 2 phases needed to run the high and low side of the pump.

I already have a toggle switch built into the deck so I need to know how to lose the pre wired set up that the pump has and replace it with the 4 wire set up that my lead provides. which will handle the toggling between pump speeds;

BAsiclally where does the red wire fit into the picture?

Confused yet?

You need to provide the pump model number and more info on the 4 wire circuit to get a specific answer. Can you take voltage readings ? White to black, white to red, and red to black.

However, I am guessing that your this may be a replacement pool pump. If so, you may have a 240V circuit. If your replacement pump is the one I think it is, it is 120V.
