Hi all. Working on a full gutting of the bathroom and about to install the new vanity light (its a bar style).
I haven't drywalled yet and I have steel studs if thats relevant.

The box needs to be roughly centered between two studs.

How do I create something so that the box is at the right depth with the finished wall and not protrude oddly?

While an 'old work' box would probably support the fixture (it's not that heavy), considering the wall is down I'd rather use a new work box and do it more solidly.

I'd sort of expect there is some sort of hanger or box+2x4 solution for this but looking for the experienced advice on what I should be doing.

Thanks,
David

Ugh. Sorry for the duplicate posts! Had an Internet hiccup and can't figure out how to delete one of them.

Run a piece of blocking between the studs and attach the box to the blocking. I would use a scrap of 2x4 and a nail on octagonal box. Install the box so the front edge is flush with the finished wall.

You could just pickup a round box with universal bar hanger for under $5 at Home Depot or Lowes.
