Extending speaker wire a few feet

I need to extend one of my speakers by under 10 feet. The speaker has 22 AWG stranded and all I have handy is 18 AWG. Is it going to be a big deal?

Trying to wrap my head around which end it matters - from source or to source. I think its a little deal as well.

n0c7 -

If the new wire was of a smaller gauge, then it could become a problem.

>>> crank her up

I probably wouldn't hear the difference but if you are using heavy duty speakers and putting 50 or more watts into each, some audio experts recommend 12 gauge speaker wire if the overall distance is over 30 feet; 14 gauge for the 20 to 30 foot range. Romex works just fine, it just doesn't look as nice as Monster cable.
