I've decided to install some electrical radiant floor heating cable under the tile in the master bath. I've applied the primer for the levelquik and tomorrow I'm planning to run the cable. The deal is... all the manufacturer data online and the outside of the box say that a thermostat is required additionally. So I got a programmable one. Well, in the installation instructions inside the box it says a voltage regulator is required, such as a dimmer switch OR a radiant floor thermostat. The one I purchased is the lesser expensive programmable model, put me back about $100. A dimmer switch is like $5. Is a thermostatically controlled regulator really any better than just going with a dimmer? I'm only heating 25sqft of the 80sqft there. I have a fiberglass shower stall already in plus cabinets, commode, etc... So any savings would be minimal as far as electricity, I'm thinking.
