Crossposted: Thermostat is making me suicidal

Help!

This should be super simple but it's obviously not, neither customer service nor my favourite engineer can figure this out.

Currently I have Dimplex manual thermostats installed, these ones to be exact:

http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...k=P_PartNumber

Each one is connected to two 750w electrical baseboard heaters.

I am trying to replace them with these Noma Digital thermostats:
http://angus.flyerland.ca/browse_all...1588-1663-2225

From the wall these are two wires, one red, one white.
From both thermostats there are two wires, both black.

I have tried connecting it both ways but it won't work. Please please please DIY gods help me before I try to whip a thermostat through the drywall.

So in the box that is in the wall there is only two wires or do you mean two cable assemblies with two wires in each of them.

You currently have a double pole thermostat and your trying to put in a single pole thermostat but with the wires your describing I am trying to figure out how to get it wired for it works for you.

Hi Darren,

There isn't even an actual box in the wall, just the wires (they were apparantly installed by a professional - but I doubt it, as whomever did it also used duct tape instead of electrical tape in some places). There is one big cable that contains two wires (one red, one white).

Thanks so much!!!

A professional pretty much never uses electrical tape. If there's duct tape then it's definitely a hack job.
