Whether the 2/0 AL is big enough depends on the size of the service.
I think i know why im confused now, when we did the meter main combo we always used SER now that the application is different we have to use some type of different cable.

Wouldn't the unsheathed SER just be regular 2/0 cable though? Like could i just purchase a single stranded 2/0 cable and use that?

So are you saying that i should run the ground wire directly to the panel completely bypassing the meter can?
