breaker won't reset

Hi - for a while now the breaker would trip when the curling iron + hair dryer +++would be used by the happy wife. I would simply unplug one of these then reset the breaker at the panel. Knowing that at some point I need to run another line into the switch. This week the breaker tripped...I went to reset and it won't. It just flips back & forth. How can I determine that its a faulty breaker....from that I want to replace it with the same rating. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Open the panel. Remove the wire from the breaker. Try to reset it. If it won't reset with no load then it is bad.

Also try turning the breaker all the way off...then back on
And of course make sure everything is unplugged/off in outlet(s)

In general when a breaker keeps tripping, you should address the reason not just resetting it. I think they gave good advice take the load off this breaker and attempt reset, my bet would be is this breaker is bad. While you are at it why don't you run another circuit to help avoid this in the future.
