How can I get the lens back in without breaking it?

Typically you can deflect the lens material enough to drop it into the frame.

Jim ison track with his idea, don't overbend it or will crack on you.

Every light is different and they all have there own little tricks to get them in. Look over the light and find how to get them in.

Check the fixture - there might be latches to release the door and you can just set the new lens right inside.
