You're asking a question but providing absolutely no detail of what is being done. How many wires, what color, what's the appliance you're hooking up, etc......................

I'll take a stab at it. If it's three prong there is probably only three wires. You need to replace the cable with a 4 wire cable and install the new receptacle. Red and black go on the X & Y terminals. White goes on the N. Green or bare go on the green.
