Unit always running, safety switch does nothing

Hello.
I was informed my shutoff switch wasnt functioning. I ordered a new ss2 and installed it, one wire at a time so it was wired as the original one was. But when i lift the float, nothing happens.
It may be related to my fan never turning off, but i know very little of a.c.
I replaced the thermostat on the wall a few months ago, honeywell for honeywell. Took a picture of the wiring, which is just color coded anyway, and it works as it should...except if i turn my system off and set fan to auto, it never stops blowing.
Someone please help.
I am capable of figuring it out, i just dont know what im looking for and am far too poverty stricken to afford techs. Thanks

Re: Unit always running, safety switch does nothing

Is it A.C only, or does it also provide heat.
