New bathroom fan

Not sure if this would be more appropriate in kitchen/bath. Will repost there if this isn't the right sub.

I recently purchased a new fan/light combo for the master bath and the exhaust is not in the same place. The old fan had a rigid elbow attached directly to the fan. Can I replace with flex hose off the exhaust line to match up with the new one? Also I'm sure it will workout ok, but I do not have separate electrical coming in for the light, can I wire both fan and light to the switch or should I attempt to run separate wiring and add a switch? I saw a split switch at the hardware store - option to split at the switch vice at the fan? Thanks for any help!
