Need some blower motor wiring help

So...I thought I was going to have a simple swap of capacitors and blower motors...but I'm stuck and hoping for some advice.

The old genteq motor had a red wire from "C" (fast speed) on the motor going down to a relay panel connected to red. It had black and yellow going to the capacitor and black leaving the capacitor connected to a white wire on the relay panel.

The new motor is 3 speed (black, red, blue), has 2 brown wires for capacitor, and white wire.

I tried capping red and blue, running brown wires to the capacitor, running black from the new motor to red, since red was originally hooked to the high speed spot on the old motor, and ran the new white to the old black wire that was connected to white at the relay.... but I admittedly was lost once the wire colors and # of wire didn't match.

I turned on the Heat and cool air came out of the vents with a funky smell. Turned on AC...and it didn't seem to turn on at all... then I just turned the handler power back off. Is something wired wrong? Last photo is how I wired the new motor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Need some blower motor wiring help

When you capped off the blue and red. Did you cap them off individually, or together. Must be done individually, or the motor will burn up.

Is the new motor 208/230 volt like the old one.

I capped them off separately. The voltage was the same. What I ended up trying that seems to have worked was running white from motor to new capacitor, brown from motor to other capacitor terminal, along with black from the system. I also capped the brown & white wire after testing it for resistance with the white and getting no resistance so assuming they are tied together in the motor.

Now the smell is gone and heat and cool seem to be putting out decent air. Does this all sound okay?
