Lo Voltage Time Delay / Surge Protector

Our unit has a 5 minute lo V time delay. Does that act as a surge protector also?

Re: Lo Voltage Time Delay / Surge Protector

Nope, it just a way that's used to keep you from starting it with unequal pressure across the compresser. They have such low starting torque that they trip the overload protection when trying to restart too soon and that traumatizes the unit needlessly.
