Question

How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

After digging around online for the past few months it seems nearly impossible to purchase equipment directly. Does someone have the answer to this problem?

The best I can come up with is to either grab slightly used or cosmetically damaged equipment off ebay, or the only websites I can find to purchase from is ecomfort.com or acwholesalers.com which unfortunately has a very limited selection.

Specifically I would like to purchase Mitsubishi R2-Series equipment:
PURY-EP72TNU-A
CMB-P108NU-JA1
PWFY-P36NMU-E-BU
As well as various P-Series head units:
PEAD-A09AA7

The models I've listed don't seem to be readily available for purchase. Does anyone know how to go about obtaining them?

I think the only Mitsubishi mini-splits available online are the DIY Mr Cool units. The rest of the line are probably distributor/wholesale only.

Me Cool isnít Mitsubishi brand equipment.
Mitsubishi is very touchy with DIY installs. They had a notice posted that any equipment bought online would not be warranted. Not sure if thatís still the case.
But Mr Cool and Mitsubishi are separate brands.

alpine seems to sell panasonic which should be decent. don't know who makes their blue-ridge mini-splits.

https://www.alpinehomeair.com/viewca...categoryID=319

doubt you'll find Mitsubishi stuff online.

Re: How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

From what I have read anyone can purchase through Alpineair and install the equipment themselves. However the startup has to be done by a qualified HVAC tech for the warranty to be honored.
I do not know if there is a way around that.

Re: How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

Thank you for the responses. My second choice would be to build a similar Daikin system but ultimately I'm trying to determine here if there is absolutely any possible way to source and purchase the equipment myself. Even if I had to purchase through someone else that wouldn't really be an issue as long as I can obtain the equipment. Having a warranty would be nice but I already know going into this that it wont be possible.

Daikin is a good brand and owns Goodman and Amana and is one of the largest HVAC companies in Asia and the world. Comparable in size to Siemens worldwide.

I would buy it and DIY and get a Pro to start it up.

Daikin isn’t bad equipment, I believe it’s the largest HVAC company in the world.
This is providing that you perform the correct installation practices on the equipment. And have the proper tools, like nitrogen, a vacuum pump, micron gauge, and so on.

Re: How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

Installation isn't an issue. I have the tools and resources available to properly install and commission the equipment following their installation and design manuals. Load calculations have been performed and I know what rooms need what sized heads. The only issue here, going Daikin or Mitsubishi, is that I'm looking for a Heat Recovery system. These 'commercial' units just don't seem readily available for purchase. Going the Daikin route, the outdoor unit would be something along the lines of a RELQ72TATJA. This unit turns up no results in a google search, just like the Mitsubishi PURY-EP72TNU-A.

Re: How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

Mitsubishi and Fujitsu are the 2 big Kahunas/top dogs and with these super large companies they don't want ANYTHING going wrong with any install and then people blaming the unit and going online and complaining. Less sales later for them and revenue $$.

I work with Lennox and they are very sensitive about their high end modulating furnaces etc getting any negative reviews and they don't sell anything to the public. Same with Trane and Carrier.

There may be a hidden Commercial tier of Daikin units that is not accessible to DIYers same as you cannot get the Fujitsu or Mitsubishi units. It is what is is.

Re: How/Where To Purchase Equipment?

I contacted Minisplitwarehouse after my last comment.
The answered immediately.
They said:
"If you install a unit designed for DIY - yes, you have a warranty.
Just keep in mind that you have to follow the instructions to the "T" otherwise, you will not have a warranty"
They also said that if you have an issue you will need to DIY troubleshoot with the manufacture and that they will NOT replace an entire system, just parts as needed.

The only thing to keep in mind is the labor is parts only. No labor. Which is fine as long as you understand it starting out. Unfortunately a lot of consumers don’t seem to realize this, and wind up having to pay when the unit breaks down. If they are unable to work on it themselves.
