Hiding a too-large bath fan hole in ceiling?

I'm replacing an ancient 10" x 14" ceiling mount bathroom fan. The new Panasonic fan that I purchased requires about a 12" square hole, and has a 13" square grille. I can patch the extra 2" with some scrap sheetrock, but I don't want the hassle of trying to skim it so that it disappears. Is there anything available, like an extra large grille, that would let me cover the extra two inches?

I had to adapt a fan too. I cut a piece of 3/8" sanded plywood big enough to cover the old hole. Then cut the new/smaller size in the plywood.

Round over the edges if you like, and paint it. Good enough.

Hey, that’s a great idea. Much easier than patching the drywall, and it should be pretty unobtrusive. Thanks!

You might also consider buying one of these for a more finished look.
