They are both good and I own both types.

All depends on the unit and how much access you have as to which works better. Nice to have both.

which one is better for my monster ?...

I need the faster efficient one.

Is the metal one harder to use? It looks like all the tines are bunched together.

A thin pocket screwdriver/hacksaw blade or butter knife may be your only salvation.

Seriously.

When they get badly bent from hail the only thing to get between them is a screwdriver. Then you can try nudge and work them into a row with the other 2.

Probably the hard plastic one will be better then.

Re: which fin straightener is better?

The plastic ones have specific spacing so you can use the exact right one. It's a bit better on kicked in fins, but like yuri said, it might be just a small pocket screwdriver. Fin after fin..

Cheers!

And if the dog used it for a latrine then forget about the coil, it's shot.

As soon as you wash it the fins will crumble off and same with trying to straighten them.

I like the type with the separate handle and interchangeable heads.
But like yuri said, if the coils damaged from dog urine then there’s no fixing it.
