Exterior wall vent

Would anyone know what this exterior wall vent would be used for? It's high up on our wall and goes into an attic (which we can't access) but there shouldn't be anything up there in terms of ductwork or other equipment. It seems to be loose but it's difficult to reach from outside.

Re: Exterior wall vent

Possible vents are kitchen hood, bath fans, or dryer vents. Are any of those located near that vent.

There can also be air intake or exhaust for a ventilation system.

Just some thoughts.

Re: Exterior wall vent

A flapper is visible, so it has to be an exhaust of some type, probably for non-continuous running equipment (or it wouldn’t need a flapper to close it off when not flowing). There’s no lint, so unlikely to be a dryer vent. It’s small and on the second floor, so the most likely candidate is a bathroom fan.

The fan is lower than the top of the window adjacent to it. You’re sure that it exits from an attic?

Ahhh, yes of course. The master bathroom is located closeby and it has a fan. It must be that.
