b vent rain cap question

Hi guys,

I want to replace my hot water heater rain cap. The liner is 5". Its a single wall b vent. I know I can get these at any regular home improvement store but the cap has to sit on the existing clay chimney liner like it currently does. Right now its a piece of flashing bent at 90 degrees so it basically folds over the clay liner. Would I have to make this myself or do they sell these?

If it's B-Vent....it is not single wall. B-Vent is double wall...

5" is kind of big for a water heater...what is the dia at the water heater?

Pictures would help....but If I understand what your describing...you have a B-Vent on your water heater that dumps into your fireplace flue...which is 5" clay pipe?

the chimney liner is 5" because the water heater was once common vented with a furnace but that furnace is now direct vented. The hot water heater is 4" then an increase to tie into the 5" liner.
