What kind of grass is it?

Hi folks,
I have that strange "grass" (attached picture) and can't figure out what is it and what to use to get rid of it and not to damage real grass.
Went to Home Depot and got 3 (!) different answers. Clearly - i did not talk to the "Right" people.

Any help is APPRECIATED !!!!

Take a piece of that weed to your local Agricultural Extension Office.

Ask the experts there for I. D., and courses to remove it.

The good thing, is you have 3-leaf clover in the lower right!

But, seriously, just seeding with a grass you like can drive out many weeds.

Re: What kind of grass is it?

What you are looking for is called "broadleaf weed killer". It is a selective herbicide that kills many weeds but does not harm grass. One that comes to mind is "weed be gone" (a liquid you spray on the weeds) or, if weeds are widespread, you can use the granular type such as "Scotts Plus 2" and spread it over the entire lawn. The Scotts product is actually fertilizer to feed the grass and weed killer to kill the weeds. It should be applied when the weather is not too hot and when the weeds are growing rapidly (i.e. spring to early summer or late summer into early fall).

Also, I believe that the weeds in that picture are mainly Dock (longer oval leaves that all originate at the stem where it meets the ground) and wild violets (heart shaped leaves)

I thought so too but since I'm not familiar with it, didn't write it down.
