Re: What is this?

Take that picture or clipping to your local landscaping nursery, they would know for sure. Someone here may also be able to id it for you. Seems to be growing really well, whatever it is.

South Florida has many interesting shrubs and trees.

Re: What is this?

I have similar issues... I have several bushes around my porch that have DIFFERENT plants (looks like trees) growing off of the bush. Very strange.

You could start a thread. May be a hybrid. . . different root stock.

Thanks, great idea!
If I can only get the plants I want to grow that well.

Interesting critters, too!

Re: What is this?

It might be this based on the way the leaves grow together., and the irregular leaf, Can you take a photo of a leaf laid out? The leaf looks like a fiddle.

Re: What is this?

UPDATE:
Brought a stem with leaves to local Nu Turf, where Plant Whisperer knew immediately:

Cupaniopsis anacardioides;
Common Name(s): Carrotwood

This species appears on the following legally prohibited plant lists:
Florida Noxious Weed List

CATEGORY I on the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council’s (FLEPPC) 2015 List of Invasive Plant Species

https://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/plant-di...anacardioides/

Thanks all!
