Weed ID and what to use to prevent

Hi All,

I got my sprinkler system fixed and now with all the watering Iím seeing weeds pop up in the grass.

I always get this onion like grass above.

Early in the season (end of March) I apply a very low dose of prodiamine.
Iíve used weedstop afterwards to on the lawn. But these are still popping up.

Should I be using something else? Stronger dosage? I need suggestions on what I can do or use. Thanks!

The first three pictures are all broad-leafed weeds, which should be (usually) well-handled (killed) by weed killers with 2-4-D in them, like Ortho Weed B Gon (check the label).

That last one is nutgrass, and it sucks. Really sucks. One of the very hardest plants to get rid of. The HUGE trouble with it is that it's hard to kill, period, though there are supposedly weed killers out there formulated to do so, including in lawns. Here's a link. https://www.ortho.com/en-us/library/...ge-or-nutgrass

I don't have a lawn anymore, but I still have nutsedge. Might run out and buy some of that stuff when I get home from The Dark Tower. Be warned; don't just spray and forget. Keep waiting and keep at it. A true Zombie Plant of Doom.

Glyphosate ("Roundup" et al) will kill the tops, but the tuberous roots are very tough to kill. I've found the best remedy is to repeatedly use an eyedropper or the like to put a little straight undiluted 40% roundup in the crowns of leaves. Even that takes multiple applications.

And here's another link for nutgrass murder: https://www.gardenguides.com/89846-p...rass-lawn.html

Let us know how it goes, @007noob

For anything that grows with a rhizome I use Triclopyr 4. Southern AG Crossbow product has both 2,4-D and triclopyr and so have broad coverage. Triclopyr will not harm narrow leave plants but can harm trees if used within their drip line.

No because it will weaken a cool season grass. And not very effective on weeds.
That said it is done if you just spot spray.
Best is 85 or below. Above expect 2 applications for close to the same effect.

Forget about the nutsedge especially in hot weather. Anything that will kill it will also kill the grass.

I looked up ďSouthern AGĒ on Amazon... Would this work without killing the grass:
Southern Ag Amine 24-D Weed Killer, White Bottle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0072289CA..._vHEmDb0K3R9YQ

I would apply it when the temperature cools down.
