Vine ID and Maintenance

I think I have 3 different types of vines. I know I have a trumpet vine but unsure of the other two. Perhaps one is an American Bittersweet. My ultimate goal is to trim back the vine over growth on my deck. We just moved into the house and as you can see in the pictures, it needs some serious maintenance. Oddly, the vines so not have any green leaves on them from the ground - 14' up to the treless. At this point the vine is about 2" thick. Then branches out all over the treless area above the deck. There is no green leaves on the treless wall. Would you cut the vines all the way back to deck level in hopes it comes back and train it through the treless wall and up on top?

Or only remove the vines that are considered intrusive and train the reaming ones to come back down to the wall treless? I am open to any suggestions on how to fix this mess and maintain the vines.

Guess the first thing I need to do first is identify the vines. Thanks.

Your identification looks about correct. I think you just need to decide if you like the vine or not and then cut or leave it accordingly. Even it were to grow back after a hard pruning, I doubt you will get many leaves on the vertical trellis wall, since the plant is finding better sunlight on top.

If you want some coverage on the vertical trellis, perhaps you could plant a clematis or climbing rose or something that is hardy for your area. Probably need something which is tolerant of shade, especially if you leave the bittersweet vine in place.
