Veggie Planter

Has anyone ever built a planter before? I assume you would use something like Cedar or Redwood as opposed to PTW to prevent poisons/chemicals from getting into the veggies.

Question is, once the planter is built, what, if anything, do you use to coat the interior to prevent water from draining through the seams between the wood panels?

I'd rather not spend $50 for an oak barrel at a local nursery.

line with a EDPM liner you can get at the tile department. Or line with copper... more expensive. But any liner will also keep rain water trapped and flood the plants. So be sure to make the planter deep enough so that 3-6" of gravel is placed on the bottom covered with a landscape cloth.
