-My pressure vacuum breaker broke
-There is a Frost free spicket installed by the previous owner out by a chicken coop that started making a "pressure noise" about the same time the PVB broke.
-turned off main irrigation control valve to remove and replace PVB.
-with the main control valve off I tried to investigate the noise at the frost free spicket. It basically sounds like when you turn on a spicket with a hose, you hear pressure building but there is no leak and the sound is constant 24/7.
-I turned the water control valve back on to see what would happen. The noise went away at the spicket and water started blasting out of where the PVB used to be (obviously).
-shut it back off after a minute and the noise comes right back to the spicket.
- I couldn't find the exact PVB I had but I found one that fit and put it on.
-got the system put all back together and turned the control valve back on and the noise is still at the spicket.
I'm looking for advice on how to trouble shoot this and what to do and look for. I have a shared well with 5 neighbors and found out that the pumps on the well have been running 4x the average amount and it started spiking about the same time that I removed the broken PVB and turned off the control valve/started hearing the noise. Did some trouble shooting of the actual well pump and it's narrowed down to a small 2 GPM leak.
