Trimming oak tree in Texas.

Im in Austin Texas, I hear you're not supposed to cut any oak branches before june 15th to prevent oak wilt.

Does this apply to smaller branches too? The tree near my driveway is getting its leaves and branches are drooping pretty low, and I'd like to cut a few of them back.

Do I need to wait a month, or is there a safe way to do it?
