Temporary Retaining Wall

Got a question

I need to put in a 2-4" temporary retaining wall, so that I can plant trees before the winter sets in.

What's the cheapest material I could likely use to keep the wall up? I would need to take down the wall next summer and build a permanent solution.

Should I just go cinder blocks? Any other ideas? I was trying to think of edging or something along those lines. I only need roughly 15 feet of wall in length.

Re: Temporary Retaining Wall

going to look at a silt fence I guess. Seems cheap and will hold soil. Might reinforce it with some wire fencing.

Re: Temporary Retaining Wall

I've made some permanent retaining wall using dry stacked bags of concrete---

They get hard and the bags rot away---this might be over kill for your needs---

Re: Temporary Retaining Wall

Why not just do this right one time and not have to go back and redo everything?
Bury those roots to deep later on with backfill and it's going to kill the tree.
I see no way silt fence or wire fencing is going to hold back soil.
stick\shift likes this.
