SW Ohio Lawn Aeration

I didn't get a chance this past Sept. to aerate the lawn. We are getting rain today and tonight the low will be 27F. Was thinking of renting an aerator and taking care of the lawn since it has been above freezing for awhile now and the ground should be soft with the rain. Is it too late, and/or will this be detrimental?

Wait til spring, you'd be wasting your time now. Needs to be more dry than wet, especially for core aeration. If the ground is the least bit too wet, you'll just make a big mess.

Re: SW Ohio Lawn Aeration

If you have a cool season grass, I would wait until next September. Warm season grass and I'd do it in the spring. I'm talking core aeration only, I wouldn't spike aerate.
