soil drainage/tree

I have a area in yard that gets accumulation of water in heavy rains due to the slope away from home and a slight slope of neighbors yard and its right near a HUGE maple tree with roots everywhere its about 12 to 15 ft from base of tree.
What is the best way to work with the soil and land to end the high puddling in this area with all the tree roots around?
maybe dry wells? or recondition the clay for better drainage and add rock/sand etc -if i can get around roots?
any info is appreciated

Ayuh,.... A trench 6" wide, 'n 6" deep will hide a 4" drainage tile,.....

Choose the route well, 'n ya won't have to dig through too many roots,...

Probably easier to amend the soil than dig a trench, here's how.

The builders sand they talk about is number 2 torpedo sand, a ready-mix supplier would have this type of sand.
