Securing fence post pipe inside a larger one

The end post of a fence I’m installing was too large in diameter so the fence supplier advised me to cut it down and install a smaller diameter pipe inside. Problem is, there’s concrete in the larger pipe and the smaller pipe can only sit inside about 6” deep.

Can anyone suggest a specific product for what to put into the larger pipe to secure the smaller one?

What size pipe did you install for the end pipe? I would not cut down the pipe. I would find a way of making it work. Now that you have your first post, try posting pictures of your fence so we can see what you see.

How about a thinned mortar mix? Not concrete since gravel inside could block the smaller pipe. Then if needed, pound the small pipe in. After, caulk or tape the top so you don't have rain going into the joint and adding to the rust.

It depends on what you have cut and the type of fence but what it is worth I owned and saw a contractor place a 1" square tube inside a 2" pipe and fill the void with expanding cement. This was for a handrail and it is still standing and firm 25 years later.
