Paver Patio: Sand Bed base

I am putting in a new Paver Padio. I live in Florida, where anywhere you dig, the ground somewhat sandy. So, I sunk railroad ties in the ground with a 4" paver base. there I placed pressure treated 4x6's on top of the railroad ties as my edging. With the 4x6 being 3 1/2 inches thick, I was going to use 1 1/2 inches as my sand bed base, then lay my 2 3/8 inch pavers on top. That would leave me with 3/8" overage on my edging. which is how I would like it. My quesiton is: is 1-1/2 " sand bed base, too much ? I have read where many people use 1" sand base.

Thank you

That will be fine as you are laying on sand already. Last 2 patios I did in Florida I used nothing but sand. They are still fine today and that was 6 yrs ago.
